If you are interested in building your own RC car there are two ways to go about it. Your first option is to buy an RC car or truck kit.
These kits will generally include the body, motor, and wheels. To complete your RC car you will need to buy a few items like nitro car fuel, batteries, decals and body paint. This is a great option if you are just starting out, or if you don’t have a lot of experience building RC cars.
Your second option is to buy each component of your RC car separately. This option gives you the most freedom for your car’s design, however, the cost of your car parts can quickly add up so be careful. Some of the parts that you will need to buy include radio control car systems, remote control car batteries, an engine, a shell, tires, chassis, decals and body paint. As you can see, the number of parts that you have to buy can quickly turn a weekend project into a multi-hundred dollar project.
If this is your first attempt at building your own RC car or truck then it is a good idea to pick up a few reference books. Fortunately, there are several good books on the market that you can turn to for help selecting parts, help to design your RC car and help to put everything together. You can find these books at your local public library, at hobby shops and at your local bookstore in the hobby section.
